Tribute

This cruise is dedicated to Lyndsey Watson, honouring her memory and the impact she had on our lives. Lyndsey was passionate about two things: savouring a quality single malt and adventuring through the Caribbean. Her travels took her to most of the countries that make up the Caribbean, but Saint Martin always held a special place in her heart.

Growing up in cold Canada, I always looked forward to visits with my aunt. She would share stories about exotic palm trees and sun-kissed beaches, transporting me to distant places with her words. Each visit, she brought back a special gift from her journeys—perhaps a Caribbean doll, a purse, or another unique treasure she had discovered along the way. I loved organizing and sorting her swizzle stick collection, each one gathered from fancy hotels across various islands, and I was fascinated by the little umbrellas that once adorned her tropical drinks.

Lyndsey devoted much of her life to working in banking and finance. Like many executives of her era, she had the opportunity to travel far and wide, experiencing adventures that seemed out of reach for the rest of us. Though she never married, family was always her greatest priority, and I was fortunate to share so much of my life with her.

In her final chapter, it was her family who cared for her, surrounded her, and remained by her side as she bravely faced cancer. When she took her last breath, she was wrapped in the love of those closest to her.

If you find this little duck somewhere on the Icon of the Sea, please raise a glass and offer a quiet toast to Lyndsey. She surely travelled this very spot at some point in her life. And as you wander through Saint Martin, if you feel a gentle breeze, may you sense Aunt Lyndsey's spirit once again enjoying her favourite island in the Caribbean.

Cheers, Aunt Lyndsey. Rest in peace.
